Electrolysis is a medically approved form of permanent hair removal which was invented and refined by doctors. When performed by our skilled and experienced aesthetic therapists, a course of Electrolysis will permanently stop the growth of hair at the treatment site.
Electrolysis involves the insertion of a very fine, disposable, sterile probe (the same diameter as the hair) into the hair follicle. A tiny amount of energy is then skilfully discharged into the hair follicle. The only sensation felt by the client is heat passing down the probe to the base of the follicle. The follicle destruction is achieved by heat (with thermolysis) or a chemical reaction (with galvanic) or both blended together (with the blend). Our advanced Sterex Electrolysis system enables us to adapt the treatment, selecting the appropriate heat, chemical reaction or blend of the two approaches to suit each client’s skin, hair and pain threshold.
Most areas of the body can be treated with electrolysis, including the eyebrows, face, abdomen, thighs, breasts, and legs. Unlike Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal, electrolyisis treatment is also suitable for most skin colours and types.
The only sensation felt by the client is heat passing down the probe to the base of the follicle. Most people find the procedure mildly uncomfortable, but entirely worthwhile given the permanent hair removal results achieved by a course of treatment.
The number of treatments required will vary from person to person and will be discussed at the initial consultation; however for successful and effective results each individual hair will require repeated treatments. This is because to successfully destroy the dermal papilla and stop regrowth, each individual hair must be treated during a specific point of its life cycle.
During a course of treatments there will be a constant, gradual decrease in the growth of the hair at the treatment site until it has all been permanently removed. Hair growth becomes softer, finer and lighter in colour until it ceases to grow all together, resulting in smoother, hair free skin.
Immediately after treatment your skin may appear slightly flushed; however any redness tends to subside very quickly.
