Faq’s
Dermal fillers are a popular and effective treatment option for the reduction of facial lines and wrinkles. Most dermal fillers contain an injectable form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs in the body naturally, but one which depletes as we age*. By restoring facial volume, the fillers work to plump and smooth contouring deficiencies and restore a youthful complexion. Offering long-lasting, yet non-permanent results, dermal fillers are broken down by the body over a period of time, with both the fillers and their effects gradually fading away. *With the exception of Radiesse which is an FDA volumising filler comprising of calcium hydroxyapatite particle in a hyaluronic acid gel carrier.
Dermal fillers are effective in the treatment of the following areas:
Sleep Lines/Forehead Lines
Frown Lines
Crow’s Feet
Undereye Bags and Tear Trough Correction
Cheek Enhancement
Nose to Mouth Lines (Nosolabial Folds)
Smokers Lines (Peri-Oral Lines)
Lip Enhancement
Smile Lines
Mouth to Chin Lines (Marionette Lines)
Chin Enhancement
Jaw Line

As every client’s skin and required goals are unique, a detailed consultation with a Nurse is essential prior to undergoing any advanced non-surgical treatment. During the consultation your Aesthetic Nurse will discuss any problem areas, desired improvements, options available (including no treatment at all) and expected outcomes. Should Dermal Fillers be agreed upon as the most suitable treatment, the skin will be thoroughly cleansed and the treatment area will be anaesthetised using either an appropriate topical anaesthetic (numbing cream) or a dental nerve block to ensure discomfort is minimal. Once the treatment area is anaesthetised, the Filler will be injected under the surface of the skin using an ultra-fine needle, before being gently massaged. The treatment itself usually takes around 20 to 30 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes allowed prior to treatment for the anaesthetic to take effect.
The results of Dermal Filler treatment are visible instantly after treatment. Wrinkles and folds at the treatment site will appear dramatically reduced, with skin firmer and more youthful looking. In the case of lip enhancement, lips will be defined and plumper, with fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth area also smoothed. By restoring lost volume your skin will look smoother and softer, giving you a fresher more youthful glow.
As the treatment area is numbed prior to treatment and the needle used to inject the Dermal Fillers is ultra-fine, most people find the treatment is only mildly uncomfortable, with many clients reporting barely feeling the injections.
Immediately after undergoing a Dermal Filler procedure, the treatment area may be slightly red and/or slightly swollen, however normal activities may be resumed immediately; indeed it is possible to have this treatment in a lunch break and return straight back to work. The risk of side effects is minimal, however as with any injectable treatment some clients may experience mild localised bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site. Thorough cleansing of the skin prior to treatment and careful placement of each of the injections helps us to ensure these risks are as minimal as possible.
